What I'm looking for ~ (ranked in no particular order) 1.
Ball handling and passing: You need to be confident that you can handle both
of these without problem. Average ball handling and passing will lead to average
results.
2. Leadership qualities: You are the coach on the floor.
Act like it!!! All players, fans and coaches should look at you with respect.
3. Think like the coach: You need to be able to read my mind and do things
the way I want them done. Don't be a robot of the coach, but understand what we
have worked on and believe in it and perform.
4. "Tough minded
and lots of guts": Explains itself...no matter the situation, game or
call on the floor... be tough mentally and show people you care by how hard you
play.
5. Make good things happen: Do this by not forcing bad things
to happen... play within yourself and the system... mistakes will happen but overcome
them with positive.
6. Be a shooter: Be confident in your shot no
hesitation... no "should I have shot that" attitude... no "but
I'm not that good of a shooter"... if the shot is within the framework of
the offense then I have all the confidence that you will make every shot... you
should also have this confidence.
7. Be a free-throw shooter: I
expect everyone at 60% or higher
8. Make others play better: Great
players have the knack of elevating all the players on the team.
9.
Be unselfish: Statistics mean nothing... team success means everything.
10.
Speed and Quickness: We will be in shape and we will be in peoples faces on
rebounds and defense.
11. Handle pressure situations calmly: Stay
cool, calm and collected... the rest of the team will feed off of someone not
going bonkers. Love the pressure and deliver positives from whatever the situation
12.
Solid citizen on and off the floor: explains itself
13. Basketball
Knowledge: we will understand the game and rules.
14. Leaders not
followers: Everyone understands their roles and shows leadership in whatever
way they can. Players respect the leadership of others.
15. Great defense:
Every player you guard will say that you were the toughest defender they had all
year! |
