I
believe that West Delaware High School can be the most successful Class 3A basketball
program in the state. I will do my best along with my assistant coaches to achieve
this pinnacle. At the same time, I will keep the best interests of the players,
school and team in mind. Improving ability, preparation, desire and effort will
lead this program to the top.
As a coach, I have the opportunity to teach
student-athletes how to face obstacles that they will have in their future. If
the only thing a player for me learns is how to rebound or set a screen then I
have failed as a coach. We as coaches need to do our best to teach our players
that family, education, a hard working attitude and a passion for excellence are
much more important than any game they will ever play.
1.
The support your family has given you since you were in diapers can never be forgotten.
Make sure you work toward goals that will continue to make your family and friends
proud of what you stand for in life.
2. The classroom must come first.
An education can open many doors for you and it can take the basketball floor
away. You will be learning the rest of your lives, but you will not be playing
basketball the rest of your lives. Compete as hard in the classroom as you do
on the floor.
3. A hard working attitude can beat ability. Hard work does
not guarantee success, but when we have worked hard, we will in turn fight harder
to win. When we learn to out work others in the classroom, during practice and
in the weight room we will out work other teams on Tuesday and Friday nights.
Wins will come with this
winning does not just happen... it has to be earned.
4. Improving ability + Preparation + Desire + Effort = Success
